Meet Bobbi
Public Relations • Media Relations • Strategic Communications • Storyteller
With more nearly 30 years of communications and public relations experience, Bobbi Cussins brings a diverse mix of both public- and private-sector expertise to any project. Her career began in the music industry, working for a small public relations firm that promoted big talents like BB King, Lyle Lovett, Bela Fleck, John Lee Hooker and many others.
It’s the music that brought her to Seattle in 1994 where her work has since crossed a variety of industries, ranging from private-sector companies and associations to state government and K-12 education. Most recently, she served as the director of communications for the Washington State Department of Natural Resources, which is overseen by the commissioner of public lands, a statewide elected official.
Prior to that, she worked as the communications manager at the Association of Washington Business, Washington state’s chamber of commerce, representing more than 8,100 private employers. She also served as the communications director for the Washington Restaurant Association (now the Washington Hospitality Association) and the National Federation of Independent Business where she focused on public policy communications and advocacy. She has additional public-sector experience as an information officer in the Washington State House of Representatives.
Her years of experience in public relations and media outreach allow her to serve clients through quick situational assessments to align public relations strategies to meet clients’ needs and, most importantly, write and communicate effectively.
Bobbi holds a bachelor’s in journalism with an emphasis in public relations from Humboldt State University in northern California. She also holds a bachelor’s in Spanish.
